The classes are on themes relating to Gypsy, Middle-Eastern and Silk-Road dance and improvisation - please get on my email list if you'd like regular updates or contact me to arrange something specially for you or your group. All classes are taught gently, encouraging efficient movement, using basic natural movement and alignment principles , gravity and imagery to help you move. Beginners and experienced dancers welcome.

FLAMENCO PERCUSSION WORKSHOP AT GREENSBOROUGH
Sunday 19th Feb, 10 am - 12 $50
Study the fascinating way Spanish Gypsies use rhythm.... their flourishes & accents. We'll particularly look at a 12 count and 4-count rhythm, do some simple stepping & the clapping rhythms that go with these. Notes will be handed out so you can do further study on your own... e.g. there are many different ways to mark out a 12 count rhythm, and they have different names and moods associated with them. We'll briefly go over how castanets are used in flamenco style so you can practise on your own too.
If you have drums, bring them along as these rhythms can only enrich what you already do.

Working on movements and rhythms which you can perform mid year and at the end of the year if you like...Beginner's level, though experienced dancers from other genres will get lots to interest them and also the opportunity to contribute choreographic ideas of their own.
