Gentle Egyptian Bellydance in Macleod

on Thursday nights 7.30 to 8.30

Term 1, 2010 from 4th Feb to 25th March (8 weeks)

$100 per 8 week term, $15 casual - call for venue info - contact info at top of page.

Beginners & continuing Gentle Egyptian Bellydance aimed at older women (don't ask me to qualify that - if you feel you're "older" you probably are, but don't let being too young stop you coming to the class).

This class is aimed at older women, though anyone can attend.  We sometimes have mothers and daughters coming.  Egyptian bellydance is a very energy-efficient, safe and natural style of bellydance, and the principles apply to efficient use of the body generally, so you can use this knowledge in your everyday life.

The class is at a basic level - we usually start warm-ups on the floor, (or you can do them sitting on a chair).  In the main body of the lesson, we study technique and finish with music interpretation of one or two songs - (or you can free dance if that's what you want to do).  We don't usually learn choreography, but concentrate more on getting to know your bodies, exploring different qualities of movement and learning how to express the music through dance.
